Job description

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Certification by the relevant governing authority
  • Current State Teaching License or appropriate Dept. of Education variance/waiver.
  • Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification or other appropriate accrediting body
  • Additional training to meet the special needs of unaccompanied alien children.

Responsibilities

  • Stays current in subject matter, knowledge and learning theory and is willing to share information with other staff.
  • Plan & Implement a program of instruction
  • Implement instructional activities
  • Modifies, plans, and implements instructional resources, including lesson plans to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Provides educational services and assessments
  • Offers plans for improvement of curriculum and follows approved curriculum
  • Provides positive learning environment
  • Coordinates activities for Teacher Assistant to handle
  • Recognizes learning opportunities and makes referrals as needed
  • Maintains efficient record keeping procedures
