Experienced Orthodontic Assistant

Family Orthodontics is seeking a highly experienced, motivated, and patient-focused Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for an assistant who is confident working independently, thrives in a fast-paced orthodontic practice, and is experienced with all phases of orthodontic treatment.

Schedule

  • 3 days per week
  • 7:15 AM - 4:30 PM
Responsibilities

The ideal candidate must be proficient in all aspects of orthodontic assisting, including:

  • Placing and removing orthodontic separators
  • Bonding and debonding brackets
  • Bracket positioning and indirect bonding assistance
  • Removing adhesive following debond appointments
  • Placing, changing, and removing archwires
  • Tying and removing ligature ties and power chains
  • Placing and removing coil springs (open and closed)
  • Placing and replacing elastomeric ties (O-ties)
  • Placing and removing steel ligatures
  • Taking orthodontic records, including digital impressions and intraoral scans
  • Taking panoramic and cephalometric radiographs
  • Taking intraoral photographs
  • Delivering and adjusting retainers
  • Delivering removable appliances
  • Providing oral hygiene and appliance care instructions
  • Assisting with Invisalign and clear aligner treatment
  • Monitoring patient progress and communicating findings to the orthodontist
  • Preparing treatment rooms and sterilizing instruments according to OSHA and CDC guidelines
  • Maintaining accurate patient documentation in the electronic dental record
  • Providing exceptional customer service to patients and families
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent orthodontic assisting experience required
  • Orthodontic experience is required; applicants without orthodontic experience will not be considered.
  • Current Dental Assistant certification and/or Expanded Duties certification (if applicable)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Experience with digital scanners (iTero or equivalent) preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
