Safety Kleen Systems, in Metairie, LA, is looking for a Sr Inventory Control Analyst to join their safety conscious team! The Inventory Control Analyst is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of inventory data through research, analysis, reporting, and process improvement. This role works closely with inventory owners and cross-functional teams to identify discrepancies, analyze trends, develop reporting and metrics, and implement solutions that improve inventory control processes.
The Inventory Control Analyst serves as a key resource for inventory-related reporting and analysis and leads or contributes to continuous improvement initiatives designed to strengthen inventory accuracy, controls, and overall operational effectiveness.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM; Occasional weekend work due to end of month/quarter for inventory.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the inventory system by reviewing transactions, identifying discrepancies, and facilitating the resolution of inventory-related issues.
  • Research and analyze inventory data, transactions, and trends to identify discrepancies, root causes, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze inventory reports, metrics, and performance indicators to support effective inventory management and business decision-making.
  • Manage and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Inventory Control and ensure compliance with established procedures and controls.
  • Partner closely with inventory owners to establish and communicate guidelines, policies, and best practices that support effective inventory management.
  • Identify process gaps and lead problem-solving efforts, including process development, training, implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Accounting, Purchasing, and Operations, to design and implement inventory-related solutions.
  • Provide technical and analytical expertise in identifying, evaluating, and developing metrics, procedures, and reporting tools that are cost-effective and support business objectives.
  • Apply critical thinking and structured problem-solving techniques to modify, eliminate, or develop systems, reports, tools, and processes.
  • Communicate data findings, analysis, recommendations, and the status of projects and initiatives to management and key stakeholders.
  • Assist and support Finance with inventory-related cost accounting analysis.
  • Train and support field personnel on the effective use of inventory-related analytical tools, reports, procedures, and processes.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy, controls, reporting, and inventory management.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

Experience
  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience required, including experience in inventory control, inventory analysis, accounting, finance, supply chain, or a related function.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing inventory transactions, identifying discrepancies, and supporting inventory accuracy and controls.
  • Experience developing or improving inventory procedures, policies, metrics, and reporting tools.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of inventory control functions, including an understanding of the accounting and financial implications of inventory procedures and transactions.
  • Strong inventory analysis experience with the ability to interpret detailed data, identify trends, investigate discrepancies, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for inventory analysis, reporting, and data management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for management reporting, documentation, and presentations.
  • Ability to analyze detailed information and perform structured decision-making on a daily basis.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop new procedures, policies, reporting tools, and processes that simplify and improve operations.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints, manage competing priorities, and deliver results within critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and fulfill responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments and functions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting cost accounting, inventory valuation, reconciliation, cycle counting, or inventory audits.
  • Experience working with ERP, inventory management, or financial systems.
  • Experience developing inventory KPIs, dashboards, metrics, or automated reporting.
  • Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, environmental services, distribution, warehouse, or other operational environment.
  • Experience leading process improvement or continuous improvement initiatives.
