Under general supervision of the Physical Plant Mechanic Supervisor, provide journey-level Plumbing experience, supporting the SEPP projects. Service and repair a variety of campus water, gas, storm drains, sewer collection, de-ionized water, compressed air, acid waste, vacuum and distilled water systems and components. Install new and/or replace systems, either inside or outside buildings. Fabricate and install a variety of components. Perform related inspections and preventative maintenance programs. Assist Inspector/Planner/Estimators, engineers, superintendents or other staff with inspection, estimating, and review or preparation of specifications and drawings for work on plumbing systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• Must possess a certificate of completion from a recognized union apprenticeship program, University apprenticeship program, accredited trade school or have the equivalent amount of experience and training comparable to a journey level craftsperson in Plumbing.
• Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
• High school diploma and/or equivalent experience.
• Journey level knowledge and experience in the Plumbing trade and related practices.
• Experience to fabricate, maintain, service, repair, replace, install and/or alter Plumbing and other campus systems related to craft functions.
• Experience to inspect and perform preventive maintenance program on Plumbing and other campus systems related to craft functions.
• Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; as well as analytical skills to understand and interpret technical data and mechanical and structural specifications and blueprints.

Building Maintenance Services provides comprehensive repair and maintenance support for all research, academic, and classroom facilities across the UC Davis campus. The department is responsible for maintaining over 12 million square feet of space spanning more than 1,200 buildings, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations. Staffed by highly skilled, multi-trade professionals, Building Maintenance Services delivers expertise in a wide range of building systems, including electrical, elevator, and alarm systems; mechanical systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), sheet metal, and refrigeration; plumbing and hot water systems; and structural trades including carpentry, flooring, pest control, locks and keys, painting, and roofing.
