Located near the Kelowna Airport, we are on a bus route, with a stop just outside of the hotel. We also pickup our employees from the bus loop at UBCO! 
Position Summary
Assist the Maintenance Manager in maintaining the aesthetics and operation of all buildings, grounds, pools, equipment and public areas. Ensure that all equipment and systems operate at optimal performance and that all preventative maintenance programs are in place and followed. Organize and implement maintenance policy and procedures, team development and building relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
What will you be doing?
This position involves working at the Four Points by Sheraton and at Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Kelowna Airport. You will be responsible for following the duties and responsibilities below to the highest standards:
  • Lead by example and support the Maintenance Manager with all aspects of the Maintenance department and ensure all maintenance standards are followed with efficient, safe, and proactive service
  • Assist with hiring, supervising, coaching, mentoring, scheduling and disciplining of staff
  • Assist with setting department goals and objectives
  • Delegate daily tasks to Maintenance Team as required
  • Respond to emergency situations with an appropriate plan of attack whether it be power outage, fire, flood, earthquake etc
  • Carry out the duties of the Maintenance Manager in his absence including but not limited to calling outside services and contractors when required, attending Managers Meetings, preparing work schedules, organizing preventive maintenance and ensuring it is completed as scheduled, providing assistance to all staff and management when required.
  • Maintain an appropriate inventory of supplies and make purchases as required, saving all receipts.
  • Practice discretion when purchasing and awarding overtime and approving expenses as required
  • Carryout the responsibilities and duties of a Maintenance Team Member in accordance with the job description as required
  • Ensure all PM's are completed on schedule and done thoroughly
  • Ensure all projects are monitored from start to finish
  • Assist in organizing and systemizing all maintenance activities
  • Assist in overseeing the maintenance and repair of all equipment and systems ensuring that a preventative maintenance program is in place.
  • Assisting in the scheduling and prioritizing of work orders
  • Treating other departments as your customers and keeping them informed as to the status of their work orders
  • Attend regular meetings with the Maintenance Manager to update and review staffing, conditions of the operation and equipment. Inform the Manager of any major repairs including costs and recommendations
  • Assist in monitoring all maintenance costs including labour, materials, contractors and subcontractors costs while staying within established budgets
  • Works "hands-on" when and wherever possible including but not limited to; carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall/mudding, painting, irrigation, pool & spa maintenance, mechanical and pumps, maintains all lighting, dock repairs, winterize and storage of equipment, daily tasks, work orders, inspections of premise, filter replacement on HVAC units, general and extensive cleaning of facilities and equipment
  • Guide and develop team members in the areas of department vision, policies and guidelines, human relations, departmental and individual success to ensure that we are continuously operating at a four-five star service level
  • Responsible for working with Team Members for the successful operation in guest relations to ensure all guests expectations are met and exceeded
  • Assist in developing and implementing Team Members training according to the Training Manual, to ensure all Team Members are focused on the guest/member experience
  • Continuously challenge and ask the question "How can we do this better?" ~ then propose and implement
  • Attends scheduled training sessions, orientations and meetings.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and repair skills across multiple trades

  • Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and maintain high safety standards
