Job Description:
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida is soliciting applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenured/tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are seeking outstanding individuals with strong expertise in various ISE and/or interdisciplinary methods (such as artificial intelligence, digital twins, AR/VR, operations research, human factors, structural health monitoring, robotics) in the research focus of Industrialized Construction for applications in infrastructure, transportation, and others.
The candidate is expected to develop and sustain a strong and externally funded research program in the area of Industrialized Construction, maintain a strong record of high-quality publications, teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in ISE, promoting excellence and innovation in learning, contribute to curriculum development in ISE related topics, engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary research across HWCOE and UF and with external partners and actively participate in departmental, school, and professional service.
This position supports the continued growth of both the HWCOE and the ISE in the research program of Industrialized Construction Engineering. The HWCOE has the country's largest and most advanced 3D construction printer, and the printer will be incorporated into research and curriculum for multiple departments in the HWCOE, including lessons and projects in construction, manufacturing, materials, data analytics, operations research, structural health monitoring, coastal resilience, safety, design, and sustainability. The ISE will lead the research path, defining one-of-a-kind, infrastructure-driven, interdisciplinary research and education in Industrialized Construction Engineering that incorporates artificial intelligence, digital twins, AR/VR, operations research, and human factors.
UF ISE offers degrees in BS, ME, MS, and Ph.D. We have approximately 475 undergraduate students and about 200 graduate students. The Department hosts research in various application areas, including advanced manufacturing, energy systems, healthcare systems, manufacturing systems, supply chain systems, and transportation systems. Our faculty performs methodological research in data analytics, machine learning, human systems engineering, optimization, simulation, and stochastic analysis. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
PhD in ISE, Manufacturing Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Preferred:
Minimum of one degree in ISE; Demonstrated excellence in research, potential for or record of external funding, solid journal publications in Industrialized Construction; A strong commitment to teaching and student success. All appropriate to the applicant's rank.
