Job Title: Assistant Executive Housekeeper

Job Summary:

The Assistant Executive Housekeeper supports the Executive Housekeeper in overseeing the Environmental Services (EVS) operations of assigned government healthcare contracts. This role assists in supervising custodial teams, ensuring compliance with contract standards, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting day-to-day functions such as scheduling, training, inspections, inventory control, and client communications. The Assistant Executive Housekeeper helps foster a positive work culture while maintaining operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the supervision and coordination of housekeeping staff to ensure assigned areas meet cleanliness, safety, and contract standards.
  • Support the creation, adjustment, and execution of daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure work is performed according to expectations and Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Housekeeper to maintain inventory, equipment, and asset logs.
  • Train new and existing employees on cleaning procedures, equipment usage, safety standards, and infection control protocols.
  • Serve as a liaison between shift leads and management to communicate operational goals and resolve issues.
  • Respond to client inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly, escalating complex matters to the Executive Housekeeper as needed.
  • Help manage supplies, chemicals, and equipment usage while ensuring proper handling and storage practices are followed.
  • Assist in compiling data for administrative reporting (e.g., inspections, staffing, incidents, supply usage).
  • Provide coverage and leadership in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper, including emergency after-hour response when required.
  • Promote a culture of safety and teamwork throughout all operations.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare and environmental services (HEC) or custodial operations, preferably in a medical or government facility.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Familiarity with infection prevention practices and use of hospital-grade disinfectants.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and custodial standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret work statements, policies, and safety procedures.
  • Proficiency in the operation of cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet extractors, and vacuums.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform physical cleaning duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pursuit or possession of CHESP (Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional) or equivalent credential is a plus.
  • Experience supporting government custodial or environmental contracts.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and in healthcare environments, including exposure to biohazards.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
