Job description

Job Title: Delivery Driver

Job Description

The Driver Helper supports the delivery driver in all aspects of product transportation to customer sites, ensuring orders are delivered accurately, safely, and efficiently while providing excellent customer service and adhering to company procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the driver with the safe and efficient delivery of products to customer job sites, including houses, buildings, and construction locations.
  • Physically load trucks at the warehouse and unload products at customer sites, handling items such as doors, windows, trim, fittings, and mouldings.
  • Verify that each order is delivered to the correct house, building, or jobsite location to ensure accurate fulfillment of client orders.
  • Use proper loading and unloading techniques to protect personal safety, safeguard coworkers, and prevent damage to products.
  • Operate equipment such as ramps, load-locks, straps, and hand trucks correctly to ensure safe transport and minimize maintenance costs.
  • Act as a primary customer-facing representative by providing courteous, professional, and responsive customer service during deliveries.
  • Assist the driver by spotting potential hazards while driving and offering clear directions as needed to promote safe navigation.
  • Organize and properly store equipment and supplies to keep the delivery truck neat, orderly, and ready for use.
  • Perform truck checklists to confirm that all required safety equipment and supplies are present and in working order.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the cab and cargo area of the delivery truck, including regular removal of debris and waste.
  • Assist during emergencies by deploying road flares, warning triangles, or other safety devices as directed.
  • Support other operational areas as needed, including warehouse tasks, production support, and general loading and unloading activities.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting on a regular basis, including lifting and carrying materials such as large doors and bundles of mouldings, consistently throughout the shift and up to 100 pounds.
  • Experience with loading and unloading trucks in a warehouse or production environment.
  • Basic familiarity with driving and working around box trucks in a delivery setting.
  • Ability to use material handling equipment such as ramps, load-locks, straps, and hand trucks safely and effectively.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients at job sites.
  • Comfort working in a production or manufacturing environment, particularly around doors, windows, trim, fittings, and mouldings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a warehouse production environment or manufacturing facility, especially in building materials such as doors and mouldings.
  • Previous exposure to forklift operations or material handling equipment in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to work safely in areas where sawdust and other wood products are present.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive lifting, carrying, and movement of heavy materials throughout the entire shift.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
