Join our team and help support low-income older adults and individuals with disabilities by improving the safety, accessibility, and comfort of their homes. As an Assistant Home Repair Technician, you’ll gain hands-on experience while contributing to work that truly changes lives. 

Position Overview

The Home Repair Assistant works alongside the Senior Home Repair Technician with home repair and modification services for low-income older adults and individuals with disabilities. This role assists with repairs, safety improvements, and accessibility upgrades that help clients remain safely in their homes. The position provides hands-on support with projects, materials, and client interactions while helping ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard. 

Key Responsibilities 

Home Repair & Maintenance 

  • Assist with residential repairs and modifications, including:  
  • Basic plumbing and minor electrical work 
  • Lock repair and installation (doors and windows) 
  • Smoke detector installation and maintenance 
  • Glass repair and replacement 
  • Interior/exterior door repair 
  • Grab bar installation and safety upgrades 

Client Support & Coordination 

  • Contact clients to schedule service appointments 
  • Interact respectfully and professionally with older adults and individuals with disabilities 

Project Assistance 

  • Support the Senior Technician with job preparation and execution 
  • Purchase materials as directed 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment 
  • Assist in ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to high standards 

Qualifications 

  • 1-2 years of handyman, construction, or home repair experience preferred (or equivalent hands-on skills) 
  • Experience using hand and power tools, ladders, and standard repair equipment 
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record 
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening
