Assistant Handyman Jobs in Rochester, NY (NOW HIRING)

Pay: $19-$21/hour+ | Higher Pay Available Based on Experience

Are you a skilled Handyman who takes pride in fixing, improving, and maintaining residential properties? We're looking for a dependable maintenance professional to help keep our apartment community safe, well-maintained, and move-in ready for residents.

In this role, you'll tackle a variety of hands-on projects each day-from apartment turnovers and service requests to preventative maintenance and property upkeep. If you enjoy solving problems, working independently, and seeing the results of your work make a direct impact on residents, we'd like to hear from you.

• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents
• Repair and install drywall as needed
• Paint interiors and perform touch-ups
• Complete flooring repairs and replacements
• Perform light electrical and plumbing repairs
• Ensure every unit meets move-in standards and passes final inspection

• Respond to resident service requests in a timely manner
• Troubleshoot and repair common residential maintenance issues
• Assist with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair work
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks throughout the property
• Accurately document and close work orders

• Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance or safety concerns
• Maintain the appearance and curb appeal of the community
• Help keep common areas, grounds, and building systems in excellent condition
• Assist with snow removal and salting during winter weather

• Monitor maintenance supplies and parts inventory
• Assist with ordering materials and equipment as needed
• Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency maintenance situations

• Experience in apartment maintenance, building maintenance, handyman services, or a related field
• Strong skills in drywall repair, painting, and general carpentry
• Experience with basic plumbing and electrical repairs
• Familiarity with HVAC systems and preventative maintenance practices
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Dependable, team-oriented, and customer-service focused
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions

Competitive starting pay of $19-$21/hour+, with flexibility for highly experienced candidates
