Employment Opportunity Under the direct supervision of the Facility Manager and Guest Services Supervisor, the Manager on Duty (MOD) is a part-time leadership role responsible for overseeing daily operations at the Recreation and Wellness Center. Acting as the point person in the absence of a full-time supervisor, the MOD provides support to part-time staff across Aquatics, Fitness, Sports, Gymnasium, Guest Services, Rentals, and The Depot (child watch). This role ensures the facility remains safe, clean, and operating smoothly while assisting staff with customer service, handling inquiries, and addressing any operational concerns.

Essential Functions of Work (May not include all duties performed.) Responsible for the daily operation of the Recreation and Wellness Center, ensuring the smooth functioning of all departments including Aquatics, Fitness, Sports, Guest Services, and The Depot. Uphold and enforce policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in connection with the operation and safety of the facility, its staff, and patrons. Possess thorough knowledge of and execute emergency action plans and emergency response procedures

Supervise, direct, and support staff in Aquatics, Fitness, Sports, Guest Services, and The Depot, ensuring tasks are completed and safety protocols are followed. Provide professional and courteous service to patrons, addressing concerns and resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the facility, including room schematics, fitness areas, indoor aquatics, gymnasiums, restrooms, and common areas.

Ensure the proper operation of fitness equipment, pool facilities, and sports areas, and make necessary adjustments or notify maintenance when needed. Respond to emergencies, ensuring the health and safety of all guests and staff. Monitor and adjust facility schedules, ensuring proper staffing and operational needs are met.

Perform routine checks of the facility, ensuring the pool area, fitness center, rentals, and other activity zones are safe and ready for use. Assist with membership check-ins, and guest inquiries, and ensure all patrons follow facility policies and safety standards. Maintain communication with full-time supervisors, providing updates on incidents, staffing issues, or any operational challenges during shifts.

Oversee The Depot and merchandise area, ensuring inventory is stocked and available for guests. Assist with cash handling and financial transactions as needed, ensuring proper record-keeping and accountability. Assist in the creation of a positive and supportive environment for both staff and patrons, fostering high levels of customer service.

Complete shift reports, documenting any incidents, safety concerns, or operational issues for follow-up by full-time management. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Recreation Coordinators, Recreation Supervisors, Recreation Program Managers, Deputy Director of Recreation and Parks, or the Director of Recreation and Parks or their designee. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Extensive knowledge of recreation center policies, procedures, and expectations.

Knowledge of basic safety protocols and emergency procedures. Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve issues effectively. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to supervise and guide staff in a professional and supportive manner. Ability to implement and enforce rules, regulations, and safety standards.

Ability to maintain accurate records and complete shift reports. Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in managing operations. Knowledge and familiarity with fitness equipment operation and basic pool maintenance is an advantage.

Typical Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 21 Years of Age or Older. High School Diploma. American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Previous experience in customer service, recreation, fitness, aquatics, customer service, or facility operations, with supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of aquatics, fitness, and recreational activities, and basic facility management. Must have strong organizational, leadership, and customer service skills.

A background free of prior felony convictions. Regular and punctual attendance is essential for this position. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
