ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

Perform chemical and fertilizer applications on golf course properties.

Maintain chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations and is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers.

Calibrate spray equipment as required.

Assist course superintendents in planning current and long-range spray programs.

Maintain daily spray records.

Maintain proper chemical inventory.

Responsible for the direct preventive maintenance of all equipment associated with the task of spraying.

Read, understand and keep current with all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Maintain chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations.

Responsible for the safety of all helpers.

Perform routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.

Follow label instructions and wear proper safety equipment.

Serve as the point person and oversee a small labor force for special projects.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school education preferred with college education in a related field a plus and or up to one year related experience and/or training in course operations and the use of pesticides and fertilizers; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COLLABORATION AND TEAMWORK

Works harmoniously with others to get a job done, responds positively to instructions and procedures and is able to work well with staff while maintaining relationships, which breed productive disagreement and debate.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Florida Driver's License

Mandatory Florida Pesticide License within 6 months of hiring.
