You should allow 4-6 weeks to obtain all clearances.If you work for at least one month, we will reimburse for the cost of the clearances ($60.25) that are obtained for you to work for us.

Reports To: Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent

Gives Direction To: Golf course equipment operators and laborers

FLSA classification: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime)


NATURE OF WORK

The Golf Course Assistant Maintenance Superintendent assists with the daily maintenance of the Mt. Lebanon Golf Course buildings, grounds and equipment.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains tees, putting greens, fairways, sand bunkers, shrubs, flowers, trees, clubhouse grounds and golf course fences. This includes all aspects of turf management including but not limited to mowing, aerifying and chemical applications.
  • Assists with supervision of part-time maintenance employees.
  • Operates, maintains and repairs golf course equipment.
  • Operates and repairs the golf course irrigation system.
  • Provides pesticide management and turf assistance at other municipal recreation facilities.
  • Maintains the municipal garden plots.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Assists with special events when needed.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assists with municipal snow removal.
  • Perform all other related work as required.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Basic understanding of the game of golf and the golf industry.
  • Clear understanding of all golf course maintenance procedures.
  • Clear understanding of turf management and the type and use of materials and practices to combat and prevent turf diseases and pests.
  • Clear understanding of golf course equipment repair and preventative maintenance.
  • Clear understanding of basic building maintenance.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum of one year of full-time experience in golf course maintenance, preferably in a supervisory/foreman position.
  • Certified Public Commercial pesticide license in the State of Pennsylvania-PA Department of Agriculture Category 7, Lawn and Turf, within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Completion of a two-year turf grass management program preferred.
  • Must have or be able to acquire a PA Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) within 6 months.
