Job description

The Webster County Board of Education wishes to announce the following professional job vacancy beginning the 26/27 school year:

POSITION: Interventionist -Third Grade

LOCATION: Glade Elementary School

REPORTS TO: Principal

EMPLOYMENT TERM: 200 Days

SALARY: Based on the state mandated salary schedule according to degree level and years of teaching experience ($40,838.00- $71,037.00 per year) plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.

Qualifications Required

WVDE Certificate endorsed in Elementary Education K-6 or K-8

Preferred

Reading or math specialist certification

Experience with intervention programs or progress monitoring tools

Demonstrated knowledge of:

Science of Reading

Numeracy instruction

MTSS/RTI frameworks

Experience using student data to inform instruction

Have completed or are enrolled in LETRS training

Position Purpose

The Teaching Interventionist provides targeted, evidence-based literacy and numeracy instruction to third-grade students identified as at risk of not meeting grade-level proficiency. This position delivers interventions within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Intervention

Deliver daily, explicit, systematic instruction in reading and/or mathematics aligned to WV College- and Career-Readiness Standards.

Provide small-group and individualized interventions targeting:

Phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension

Number sense, computation, and problem-solving

Implement science of reading-based practices as required by WVDE.

Support Tier II and Tier III interventions within MTSS.

Assessment & Data Use

Administer and analyze universal screeners and benchmark assessments (BOY, MOY, EOY).

Identify students with deficiencies and assist in developing:

Literacy Learning Plans

Numeracy Learning Plans

Progress monitor students regularly and adjust interventions based on data.

Maintain accurate documentation of intervention services and student progress.

Collaboration & Support

Collaborate with:

Classroom teachers

  1. Clarify classroom norms, rules, roles and expectations
  2. Planning and implementation of small group and individual interventions
  3. Planning and implementation of behavioral strategies for whole class and individual students
  4. Setting and sharing goals for student learning

Special education staff

School counselors and SAT teams

Participate in Student Assistance Team (SAT) processes and MTSS meetings.

Assist in aligning core instruction with intervention strategies.

Support IEP implementation when applicable (in coordination with special education staff per Policy 2419).

Parent & Stakeholder Communication

Assist in communication with parents regarding:

Student progress

Learning plans

Strategies for home support

Participate in meetings related to student academic improvement plans.
