Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW Applications will be accepted from: ALL PERSONS INTERESTED Division/ Section: Infrastructure Asset Management Workdays & Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm or 8:00am to 5:00pm. Based on operational need; occasional evening and weekend work may be required (*Subject to change). PURPOSE OF DIVISION The Infrastructure Division manages the full lifecycle of Houston Airport System's physical and infrastructure assets including planning, design, construction, commissioning, renewal and replacement.

It ensures all programs align with environmental regulations, operational efficiency and long-term sustainability. One of the division's missions, through the Airport Spatial Information Systems (ASIS) team, is to extend the useful life of HAS assets through data-driven decision making and the integration of geospatial and asset management systems. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The GIS Analyst is responsible for the routine maintenance, quality control, and analysis of the ASIS team's geospatial data.

This position supports all departments of the Houston Airport System by updating enterprise databases, performing spatial analysis, and generating accurate cartographic products and digital exhibits. Operating under the guidance of the GIS Supervisor, the Analyst ensures that critical infrastructure data remains current and readily accessible to department stakeholders. "Candidates must be able to obtain all security required badge access including Custom Border Patrol access within 6 months from the hire date." The GIS Analyst responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Produces maps, reports, and spatial analyses using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related database software to support departmental operations Researches and evaluates source data using routine methods Assists in ensuring GIS data and workflows comply with applicable FAA NextGen standards and other regulatory requirements Performs quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on GIS datasets, exhibits, and presentations to maintain data accuracy and consistency Develops and maintains GIS applications, tools, and user interfaces to support business needs Map Objects, ArcView, ArcInfo, Avenue and ARCINFO MACRO LANGUAGE (AML)

Writes code and documents programs. Writes and maintains code (e.g., Python, SQL, or similar) to automate routine GIS workflows and improve efficiency Develops and implements data topology methods and procedures Converts data from one software platform to another Geocodes data files; enters, corrects and modifies data Supports integration of GIS data with internal systems using APIs, web services, or other data exchange methods Assists in developing and maintaining GIS data standards, database structures, and topology rules Maintains and updates GIS databases, including data entry, editing, synchronization, and basic performance monitoring Works with Building Information Modeling (BIM) data and assists in integrating BIM into the GIS environment Collaborates with internal stakeholders to understand GIS needs and support development of appropriate solutions Prepares maps, exhibits, and presentations for internal teams and external stakeholders Provides technical support and guidance to GIS users; may assist in training staff on GIS tools and workflows Supports the team in completing projects and meeting departmental goals WORKING CONDITIONS The position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items of up to 30 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces. There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions

The position may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, as with occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of a video display terminal. Requires the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements within very fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make rapid closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within somewhat fine tolerance demands; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fine tolerances with large equipment as an extension of the worker. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Science, Planning, Geography, Computer Science or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE: No experience is required. Professional experience working with a comprehensive geographic information system may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. PREFERENCES Experience in the aviation industry, with familiarity in aviation-related data, systems, or operations.

Extensive experience with the ESRI ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, Experience Builder, and Survey123 Proficiency in Python and SQL, with demonstrated ability to develop scripts, automate workflows, and support data processing. Familiarity supporting or integrating enterprise asset and document management systems, such as Hyland OnBase Unity Client and HxGN EAM Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications and Power Platform tools (e.g., Power Apps) Working knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and experience supporting or maintaining enterprise geodatabases.. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts and experience integrating or aligning BIM data with GIS systems
