Job description

Position Overview

Protection Technologies LLC is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician to manage fire alarm projects from inception through completion. This individual must be capable of independently installing, programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning fire alarm systems in commercial, multi-family, and critical infrastructure environments.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically strong in programming, and confident leading technicians on job sites while ensuring compliance with NFPA and local code requirements.
Salary Range: $55,000-$95,000
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead installation of fire alarm systems from rough-in through final inspection
  • Program, configure, and commission fire alarm control panels
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues efficiently
  • Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and specifications
  • Perform system testing and ensure compliance with NFPA 72 and local AHJ requirements
  • Coordinate inspections with local authorities and fire marshals
  • Supervise and train junior technicians and assistants
  • Ensure proper material usage, device placement, and system labeling
  • Fill out fire inspections and permits reports
  • Maintain accurate documentation, as-builts, and programming records
  • Communicate job progress, issues, and change orders to project management
  • Follow all company safety protocols and job site procedures

Required Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of fire alarm installation experience
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and local fire codes
  • Proven experience programming major fire alarm panels (Honeywell, Notifier, Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, Siemens, etc.)
  • Ability to run a job independently without constant supervision
  • Experience leading or mentoring technicians
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Certifications
  • NICET Certification (Level II or higher preferred)
  • Manufacturer certifications (Notifier, Honeywell, etc.)
  • OSHA  30 and SST
