Job description

Assistant Finance Controller

We are currently recruiting on a corporate accounting opportunity seeking to hire a temporary consultant to join their growing team. We are seeking qualified candidates with 8-10+ years of corporate general ledger experience preferably within a management company department. This position is 5days onsite in NYC.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the monthly close process for domestic and international entities, including cash, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, investment activity, management fees, and expense accounting.
  • Prepare and review monthly general ledger reconciliations, trial balance support schedules, revenue and expense analyses, and balance sheet roll-forwards.
  • Perform and maintain month-end control reconciliations with accurate documentation and high-quality workpapers.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance financial reporting processes and improve accounting operations.
  • Prepare management reporting and financial analyses for assigned entities.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages and business line reporting for senior leadership.
  • Support the preparation of annual standalone and consolidated financial statements, including footnote disclosures.
  • Coordinate and support the annual external audit by preparing schedules, reconciliations, account analyses, and responding to auditor requests.
  • Develop, maintain, and update accounting policies, procedures, checklists, and business continuity documentation.
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements, and prepare technical accounting memos as needed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation initiatives, including enhancing workflows between Accounts Payable and Corporate Accounting.
  • Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other accounting and finance responsibilities as needed to support the department.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10+ years of corporate general ledger accounting experience preferably in a management company setting.
  • Commutable to NYC office 4/5 days onsite in office weekly.
  • Available to work in a consulting/temporary capacity
