Job description

Environmental Health & Safety Consultant II

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Consultant II for our Raleigh, NC team. As a EH&S Consultant II, you will possess a strong understanding of EH&S concepts, issues, challenges, and will be able to identify unmet issues and opportunities with resolutions, for current and new clients while ensuring the highest level of satisfaction. 

This service-oriented individual will be responsible for short- and long-term consulting and staff augmentation engagements.

This position reports to a regional Environmental Health & Safety Manager or Director.  This role is onsite at assigned clients in the Research Triangle Park area and is based out of our Raleigh, NC office. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Maintain client environmental, health and safety compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations, including management of applicable license(s)/permit(s).
  • Develop and implement written health and safety programs (e.g., hazard communication, lockout tagout, confined space, fall protection, personal protective equipment, respiratory protection, electrical safety, hot work, machine guarding, etc.).
  • Conduct risk assessments of work areas with hazardous or potentially hazardous processes.  Collaborate with personnel to implement control measures to reduce or mitigate risks associated with tasks.
  • Conduct workplace safety inspections, evaluating the use and storage of hazardous materials, personal protective equipment, and safe work practices, in accordance with applicable regulations. These inspections of the workplace will involve communication with workers and observing their work.
  • Develop, deliver and manage client EHS training programs.
  • Identify potential health hazards, such as toxic vapors, mold, mildew, and explosive gas-air mixtures and support implementation appropriate control measures.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective and preventative action.
  • Communicate with client personnel regarding workplace safety issues, recommending corrective actions.
  • Liaise with client account management team to meet client expectations and increase services provided to our clients.

Requirements:

  • 3-6+ years' experience in an EH&S capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related scientific field, such as biology, chemistry, or engineering.
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience developing and delivering OSHA compliance programs.
  • Excellent communication & customer service skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Problem solver with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Possess valid driver's license and personal vehicle.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Preferred requirements:

  • Experience as a professional advisor or consultant to third party clients.
  • Completed two or more industry-recognized trainings (OSHA 10 or 30, ABSA, HAZWOPER, DOT/IATA HAZMAT Transportation).
  • Active member in at least one national professional safety organization, including local chapters.
  • Obtained or are actively pursuing one or more professional EHS certifications (CHMM, CIH, CSP etc.).
