Accounting Assistant - Help Advance the Health Center Movement
Are you a detail-oriented and organized accounting professional seeking a new position? The Health Center Association of Nebraska (HCAN) is actively recruiting a part-time Accounting Assistant to join our team in Omaha, Nebraska, where you will support the daily operations of our accounting department. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will assist with accounts payable and receivable, maintain accurate financial records, reconcile accounts, and provide administrative support to ensure efficient financial operations.

Your Role:
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Prepare and process invoices, payments, expense reports, and purchase orders
  • Reconcile credit card statements and general ledger accounts
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Enter financial data into accounting software with a high level of accuracy
  • Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue accounts
  • Support audit by gathering and organizing required documents

What We Are Looking For:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
  • 1 -3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software (such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems)
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently while meeting deadlines

Highly Valued (Not Required) Experience:
  • Experience with payroll processing
  • Knowledge of GAAP principles
  • Experience with financial reporting and reconciliations
  • Non-profit or grant tracking experience
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment
