Athletics and Recreation department is looking for assistant coaches & team managers to make up the Trojans Athletics & Recreational program offerings.

This position focuses on enhancing student engagement, experience, and program development while supporting the participation and competitive aspirations of SAIT students. The role includes assessing athlete skills, prospecting players, promoting the team, and coordinating tactical, technical, and strategic development with an emphasis on team cohesion and podiumfocused planning. Responsibilities extend to roster management, game day or event leadership, and a range of offcourt/ice/pitch duties that contribute to the overall success of the program. The role requires evening and weekend availability throughout the season, along with travel as part of the coaching portfolio, and encompasses positions ranging from 5 to 30 hours per week.
How you'll contribute

Program Management Support

  • Support Head Coach with administrative, logistical, financial & personnel requirements for the program
  • Assist with all team related activities along with support from Trojans admin & assigned sport coordinator 

Coaching

  • Create an environment that is aligned with SAIT FIRST principles and fosters holistic growth of student athletes & staff.
  • Create a culture of excellence that motivates athletes & staff to strive for their best in all aspects of being a part of Trojans programming
  • Conduct effective practices & training sessions that allow student-athletes to improve, while providing enough time for academics & generalized success as a student-athlete
  • Work directly with Head Athletic Therapist to ensure YTP is conducive to injury prevention & peak health throughout the season  

Administration

  • Adhere to all Trojans & league requirements regarding athlete onboarding each season (Transfers, LOIs, Nominations, Required training/education sessions etc.)
  • Adhere to SAIT policies, procedures and protocols including p-card purchasing, web time entry, mandatory SafeSport training facility access controls, ID card presentations, brand alignment and respectful workplace related expectations
  • Team scheduling, planning and structuring including communications
  • Submit required documentation in a timely fashion
  • Submit compliance related formalities in a progressive fashion

EDI, Safesport & SAIT Engagement

  • Support & promote SAIT & Trojans initiatives not directly tied to athletic pursuits
  • Advancement of a #wearetrojans mentality
