Job description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist the Surveyors in performing their daily duties and follow instructions as directed
  • Transport and set up equipment and survey instruments
  • Use a variety of tools (hammer, frost pin, shovel) to support accurate surveying and construction activities
  • Safely operate a light duty vehicle in a high traffic and congested environment
  • Accurately take measurements and record data
  • Actively participate and be committed in Ledcor's safety program

Requirements

  • Candidates with previous experience as a Survey Assistant are preferred
  • Education in the fields of surveying, geomatics and civil engineering fields will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge and experience of setting up survey equipment and instruments such as GPS units, levels and total stations, although training will be provided to the right candidate
  • Basic knowledge of surveying principles and an aptitude for mathematics and an analytical mindset
  • Effective and concise communication skills are key to this role
  • Must be able to handle the physical demands of outdoor conditions and the ability to move equipment
  • Reliable team player with a strong work ethic and desire to learn and progress
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Hold a valid Class 5 drivers license and provide a clean 3-year drivers record
  • CSTS-2020, Fall Protection and WHMIS 2015 (training can be provided)

Working Conditions

  • Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with evenings and weekends free to enjoy at home
  • Work will be primarily outdoors in all year-round weather conditions
  • Benefits provided by CLAC - extended health plan (prescription drugs, dental, and other coverage)
  • Candidates must reside in the Greater Edmonton Region
