Engineer I

Location: Birmingham, AL Client- Southern Nuclear Contract-10 Months

Position Overview

The Engineer I role supports Comprehensive System Review efforts and site Technical Evaluations (TEs), with a focus on Preventive Maintenance Change Request (PMCR) backlog reduction initiatives.

This position plays a key role in supporting system health evaluations, vulnerability assessments, and maintenance strategy validation for critical plant systems, including Recirculation (Recirc) and Reactor Coolant Systems (RCS).

This is an entry-level engineering position ideal for candidates seeking experience in system reliability, maintenance strategy development, and technical evaluation processes.

Key Responsibilities

System Review & Technical Evaluations

  • Support Comprehensive System Review (CSR) efforts
  • Assist with Technical Evaluations (TEs) and PMCR backlog reduction
  • Perform single-component vulnerability reviews for Recirc and RCS systems
  • Review and help resolve open vulnerabilities tracked within TEs

Data Analysis & Documentation

  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets to compile component data including:
    • Classification
    • Equipment health
    • Vendor recommendations
    • Industry guidance
  • Validate AI-generated reviews and maintenance recommendations
  • Provide technical justification to support vulnerability resolution

Maintenance Strategy & Systems Support

  • Input PMCR recommendations into Maximo in accordance with procedural guidance
  • Ensure alignment with SCVR (System Component Vulnerability Review) reports
  • Support documentation accuracy and compliance with established processes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 0–5 years of related engineering experience
  • Introductory knowledge of engineering principles
  • Basic problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to follow established procedures and work under supervisory guidance
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific software tools (e.g., spreadsheets, maintenance systems)
