PositionOverview
We are seeking askilled,hands-on welder who is interested in growing into aspecialized rolesupporting our BeamWELD robotic welding systemfor structural steelfabrication.
This position isideal for someone withstrong welding and structural fabricationexperience who wants toexpand into automation, commissioning,and customer-facingapplications work. You do not need to be arobotics expert on dayone - a solid welding foundation and awillingness to learn are themost important requirements.
Applications Engineersare technical subject matter experts responsible for commissioningequipment, developing and validating processes, conductingcustomertraining, supporting demonstrations, and serving as aprimaryapplications resource for customers throughout theUnited States.
This position requiresfrequent travel and direct interaction with customers, operators,programmers, and production personnel to ensure successful machineimplementation and long-term customer success.
Requirements
KeyResponsibilities
Product &Process Learning
• Develop athoroughunderstanding of the BeamWELD system including itsweldingcapabilities, safety features, basic programming, anddailyoperation.
• Become a primary internal resource forrunningtypical BeamWELD jobs and basic troubleshooting.
Welding &Procedure Support
• Set up and runweld trials onstructural components such as beams, columns,stiffeners, and plateweldments.
• Assist in developing andrefining weldingparameters to achieve consistent quality andproductivity.
• Support the creation and maintenance ofProcedure QualificationRecords (PQRs) and Welding ProcedureSpecifications (WPSs) under theguidance of senior staff.
Commissioning&Installation Support
• Assist withinstallation andcommissioning of new BeamWELD systems atcustomer facilities.
• Perform and document systemcalibration, basic functional tests, andinitial weldtrials.
• Work alongside senior engineers toidentify andresolve issues related to the welding process, basicmachinehardware, safety devices, and configuration.
• Provideremote support to customers by reviewing photos, videos, weldparameters, and error descriptions to help diagnose and resolveissues.
• When needed, support on-site service visits for morecomplex problems in coordination with the service and engineeringteams.
• Log, track, and follow up on customer issues to ensurethey are resolved and that lessons learned are communicated internally.
CustomerTraining & Demonstrations
• Support trainingof customerwelders and operators on machine operation, weldsetup, and routinemaintenance.
• Assist with in-house andon-site demonstrationsfor prospects and customers.
Feedback &Continuous Improvement
• Communicateobservations fromshop and field use back to engineering andmanagement, includingopportunities for product, process, anddocumentationimprovements.
• Contribute to internalguides, parametercharts, and troubleshooting documents asexpertise develops.
ApplicationsResource Development
• Develop andmaintain weldingparameter libraries.
• Assist indevelopment of a standardizedBeamWELD training curriculum.
• Support the creation oftroubleshooting guides,quick-reference materials, videos, andcustomer resources.
• Assist Engineering in validation of newwelding processes,consumables, sensors, and machine features.
• Participate inwelding procedure qualification activities inaccordance withAWS D1.1.
Qualifications
• Strong practicalweldingbackground in structural steel fabrication: GMAW / FCAWon carbonsteel, fillet and groove welds, multi-pass, andpositionalwelding.
• Ability to read and interpretstructural fabricationdrawings and weld symbols.
• Experience tuning weldingparameters and troubleshooting commonweld defects.
• Comfortworking in an industrialenvironment around machinery and productionequipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic diagnostic skills:comfortableinspecting torches, wire feed systems, gas, coolant, andfixtures; familiar with hand tools and basic test equipment.
• Tech savvy and willing to learn: HMI-style interfaces, offlineprogramming/simulation tools, calibration and diagnosticutilities.
• Clear, professional communication skills and theability to work effectively with welders, supervisors, engineers,and customers.
Niceto Have
• Experience withrobotic weldingor other robotic automation in a productionenvironment.
• Prior exposure to commissioning industrialmachinery (machine visionsystems, safety circuits, lightcurtains, etc.).
• Experiencewriting or maintainingWPS/PQR documentation to structural weldingcodes (e.g., AWSD1.1 or similar).
• AWS CWI or previous CWIexperience (notrequired, but a plus).
WorkEnvironment & Travel
• Primarily shopand industrialenvironments, working around large structuralcomponents and heavyequipment.
• Travel to customer sitesfor installations,training, service work, and demonstrations(frequency determinedbased on business needs).
• Hands-onrole combining welding,machine operation, troubleshootingsupport, service response, andcustomer interaction.
