Patient Care Coordinator

Piedmont Pediatrics is seeking a full-time Patient Care Coordinator (CNA, EMT, or CMA) to join our team in a position that rotates between our clinical (direct patient care) and administrative (patient registration and scheduling) teams. The ideal candidate loves working with children and families, has excellent interpersonal skills, and experience in patient care as a CNA, EMT, or CMA. In addition, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, familiarity using an electronic medical records system, and the ability to communicate effectively on the phone and via messaging are also important to this role.

Our office cares for patients from birth through the college years, is an established user of electronic medical records (EMR) and strives to foster a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere. Applicants should be caring, enthusiastic, responsible, and enjoy fast paced, team-oriented work. Everyone in our work family is expected to have an optimistic, warm and caring attitude, excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and a desire to serve patients and families. This is a great opportunity for future medical, nursing, or PA school students who are taking a gap year and want clinical experience!

Our Patient Care Coordinators typically work 4 days a week, totaling 36-40 hours each week. The practice is open seven days a week, has two locations (Charlottesville & Crozet) and work schedules include weekdays, evenings and weekends (on a rotational basis). Hourly wage differential is paid for weekend work. The position requires employees to work at both our Charlottesville and Crozet offices.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support the mission of Piedmont Pediatrics
  • Greet and room patients
  • Obtain height, weight and vitals
  • Talk with patient about reason for visit and provide anticipatory guidance
  • Assist providers throughout the visit as needed
  • Administer injections
  • Record and maintain accurate records in electronic medical record system
  • Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms between appointments
  • Point of Care Lab Testing and Phlebotomy
  • Maintain medical supplies in patient exam rooms
  • Registration and Scheduling Front Desk work
  • Performs related work as needed to support the mission of Piedmont Pediatrics

Qualifications and skills needed:

  • Current CNA, EMT, or CMA License is required
  • CPR Certification required
  • Strong verbal communication skills, flexibility, the ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail
  • Flexibility with rotating work schedule- evening and weekend hours required
  • Competency in operating medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Knowledge required to maintain a safe work environment
  • Possess the ability to maintain quality control standards, react calmly and effectively in emergencies, interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures, communicate clearly, and work effectively with co-workers, while maintaining confidentiality of clinical information
