Job description

Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Technician
Location: Houston, Texas
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor / Plant Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team at Sanderson Pipe, a leading manufacturer of PVC pipe. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment, ensuring the efficient operation of all electrical systems within the plant. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring minimal downtime and supporting our manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, including motors, PLCs, drives, and control panels.
  • Work on electrical installations, including wiring, circuit breakers, and other electrical components to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical malfunctions, outages, and breakdowns in a timely manner to reduce production downtime.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to identify faults and plan repairs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of electrical equipment, machinery, and control systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and repair industrial machinery, including pumps, conveyors, and extrusion lines specific to PVC pipe production.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and unplanned outages to minimize production impact.
  • Collaborate with the mechanical and production teams to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts usage.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Assist with the training of other team members and new hires on electrical systems and safety practices.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electrical maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment (experience in the PVC pipe or plastics industry a plus).
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, control circuits, motors, PLCs, and electrical components.
  • Proficiency with electrical diagnostic tools such as multimeters and infrared thermometers.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation and control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks.
