Description
Position Overview
Heritage Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and organized Fine Arts Instructor to join our faculty. This multifaceted role is responsible for instructing theater at the middle school level, directing and producing major stage productions, and serving as the Yearbook Director. The successful candidate will foster a creative and disciplined environment, helping students develop their God-given talents while working closely with the Director of Fine Arts to uphold the department's standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Middle & High School Theater Instruction
  • Middle School Rep Theater: Serve as the primary instructor for the Middle School Repertory Theater course, focusing on acting techniques, stagecraft, and ensemble building.
  • 6th Grade Theater: Lead 6th-grade theater instruction, focusing on identifying and nurturing emerging talent.
  • Instructional Excellence: Develop lesson plans that align with HCA's mission, integrating faith and art.
2. Theatrical Directing & Production
  • 7th & 8th Grade Musical: Serve as the Lead Director and Producer for the junior high musical production.
  • High School Spring Play: Responsible for the complete direction and production of the High School Spring Play.
  • 6th Grade Showcase: Produce and direct featured shows for 6th-grade students to showcase their specific talents.
  • Production Oversight: Manage all aspects of these productions, including casting, rehearsals, set coordination, and backstage management.
3. Yearbook Director
  • Project Management: Oversee the design, photography, copywriting, and publication of the school yearbook.
  • Student Leadership: Lead a student staff in the creation of the book, teaching layout design and journalistic integrity.
  • Deadline Compliance: Ensure all production deadlines are met for timely distribution.
4. Administrative & Collaborative Support
  • Fine Arts Assistance: Assist the Director of Fine Arts with administrative and production tasks regarding the Fall Musical.
  • Department Support: Participate in Fine Arts department meetings and assist with school-wide events as needed.
  • Communication: Maintain professional communication with parents, faculty, and the school administration regarding rehearsals and production needs.

Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Theater, Fine Arts, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience in directing musical theater and/or dramatic plays. Experience with yearbook software (e.g., Jostens, Balfour) is a plus.
  • Spiritual Leadership: A committed Christian who agrees with the HCA Statement of Faith and is dedicated to mentoring students in their spiritual walk.

Skills: Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple production timelines simultaneously, and proficiency in stage sound and lighting basics.
