Job description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to lead clinical excellence across multiple outpatient primary care clinics serving Antelope Valley and East Kern County, CA. This executive leadership role combines 60% direct patient care with 40% administrative leadership, offering the opportunity to improve healthcare access for underserved communities while mentoring providers and driving quality initiatives.


Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • Monday–Friday
  • 60% Clinical (approximately 3 days/week)
  • 40% Administrative (approximately 2 days/week)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct primary care services in an outpatient setting.
  • Supervise and mentor physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
  • Lead provider meetings, performance reviews, and productivity initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor Quality Improvement and HEDIS performance.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, coding, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with HRSA, TJC, PCMH, and other healthcare standards.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on organizational strategy and operations.
  • Represent the organization at board meetings and community events.

Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or another Primary Care specialty.
  • Active California Medical License (or eligible for immediate licensure).
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of physician leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
