Job description

Job Summary:

The Sales Representative will be responsible for servicing accounts in the protected assigned area.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Train merchandiser.
  • Supervise, mentor, coach, and lead assigned merchandiser in day-to-day activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Applies knowledge of the field and product features to match products to the needs of clients.ย 
  • Answers inquiries from clients concerning products, their uses, and the industry at large.
  • Provides periodic territory sales forecasts.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise post-sale.
  • Load work vehicle with supplies as needed from assigned warehouse without assistance.
  • Unload and deliver product from work vehicle into assigned customer locations without assistance.
  • Expertly merchandise product on shelves and racking in customer locations.
  • Resolves customer complaints.
  • Perform resets during reset season.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop sales expectations and strategies.
  • Assist with other territories as needed and/or assigned.
  • Participate in the annual pallet program.
  • Maintain assigned warehouse, receive and stow away stock, order stock if necessary, in your region.

Required Skills:

  • Merchandising knowledge and skilled at training staff on merchandising.
  • Direct Store Delivery (DSD)/Route experience is mandatory.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work with little to no supervision.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Able to comfortably drive a medium duty box truck, approximately 20 feet in length.
  • Early morning start times, predawn hours.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 1 years of experience in DSD/Route Sales

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to safely get in and out of box trucks and vans with and without product.
  • Working in non-climate-controlled box trucks and other work vans in all weather conditions.
  • Able to unload delivery trucks and stow product appropriately in the warehouse.
  • Must be able to load product onto work vehicle without assistance.
  • Must be able to lift at least 60 pounds.
  • Prolonged sitting and driving.
