Arrowfly seeks an enthusiastic, motivated, and detail-oriented Senior Editor to help lead our Plant Engineering (plantengineering.com) brand, a resource for managers and engineering professionals in electrical, mechanical, automation, and plant maintenance in the industrial setting.


This is an excellent senior-level opportunity for a candidate interested in covering the engineering processes and technologies that impact how an industrial plant floor is operated and maintained. Working with experienced editors and subject matter experts, you will help shape the coverage in online and print channels while developing your own voice as a digital storyteller.


We value candidates eager to learn and collaborate, particularly in using performance data (from website analytics, social media, newsletters) to understand audience behavior and iteratively refine our content approach. Through our own unique content created by editors and subject matter experts, Plant Engineering provides strategic manufacturing knowledge to help plant managers operate their business efficiently, effectively, and safely.


In this deadline-oriented environment, your cross-functional role includes working with contributors on content, editing and posting articles online, managing newsletters, moderating webinars, working with editors and designers on preparing print editions, as well as reporting on industry news and trends and writing your own content for the website and social media. You will also work closely with other brand leaders to help with special projects as needed.


The ideal candidate for this role is detail-oriented, organized, flexible, eager to learn, social media savvy, willing to travel, and thrives in a collaborative environment with other editors and departments within the engineering group at Arrowfly.

Job Responsibilities

  • Post news articles, features, and other content per day on PlantEngineering.com, including some based on interviews. We focus on quality over quantity.
  • Source and pitch relevant story ideas covering research trends, technological news, and industry news.
  • Meet daily social media requirements.
  • Adhere to Arrowfly's high journalistic and quality standards.
  • Support Plant Engineering (including its print editions and major projects, live and digital events, and other endeavors within Arrowfly’s Engineering portfolio.
  • Assist with webinars and podcasts.
  • Fulfill sales managers' requests, such as providing them with industry insights.
  • Travel to attend industry trade shows, company meetings and events as needed.

The ideal candidate for this role is detail-oriented, organized, flexible, eager to learn, social media savvy, willing to travel, and thrives in a collaborative environment with other editors and departments within the engineering group at Arrowfly. Experience writing for publications is highly preferable.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Journalism or Communications.
  • 3+ years of writing, editing, and content creation experience.
  • Experience in the engineering industry is a plus but not required.
  • The ability to turn technical topics into clear, concise, and AI-defensible content.
  • Excellent content editing skills for written technical content.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, solve problems, and consistently meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with WordPress is desirable.
  • Experience with video editing preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, etc., is a plus.
  • Great oral communication skills, including in front of a camera.
  • Understanding of SEO and GEO to create a content journey that drives target audience opens, clicks and traffic.
  • Comfortable using social media for audience engagement.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics or other website monitoring tools.
  • Requires occasional travel to cover industry events and customer meetings.
