Job Summary
A direct hire opportunity is available for an Assistant Director of Community Planning and Development in Hollywood, FL. This management-level role is ideal for an experienced urban planning, municipal planning, land development, civil engineering, or community development leader who is ready to help guide comprehensive planning, capital improvement planning, and long-range development strategy in a government and public sector environment.
The Assistant Director of Community Planning and Development will support senior leadership in directing planning operations, supervising professional staff, evaluating development initiatives, and advancing community-focused planning programs. This is a high-impact opportunity for a collaborative leader who values public service, strategic planning, infrastructure development, and meaningful community outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in leading the planning, organization, direction, and oversight of community planning and development department operations.
- Support the creation, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive urban planning, master planning, strategic planning, and land development initiatives.
- Coordinate and contribute to the annual Capital Improvement Plan, including review of development priorities, infrastructure needs, and project impacts.
- Supervise professional planning staff across commercial, industrial, residential, and community development projects.
- Help implement department policies, objectives, procedures, and programs that support effective planning operations.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and presentation of data used to evaluate cost, benefit, feasibility, and long-term impact of current and future development projects.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $140,000 to $175,000 per year.
- Compensation may be flexible up to the $200,000 range DOE
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Ability to travel locally and nationally is required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required.
