Position Overview:
Western State Hospital is seeking a part time Rehab Assistant to assist in the development of and implementation of therapeutic interventions within the psychosocial treatment program; provide open leisure programming available to all patients of Western State Hospital; and provide on-unit programming on admissions units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct 4-6 hours of psychosocial rehabilitation interventions per week, according to approved schedules
- Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating programs for weekend activities on admission PCUs
- Ensures that interventions are appropriate to individual clients' ages, interests, and abilities as reflected by assessment data
- Supervise assigned areas and monitor the milieu appropriately
- Accountable for tracking patient attendance and participation for weekend programming on admission PCU
- Complete planning and evaluation forms related to programming
- Document incidents with the assistance of Rehab staff

Minimum Qualifications

- Valid Virginia Driver's license

Additional Considerations

- High school diploma or equivalent
- College courses in recreation, leisure, vocational, recreational therapy or occupational therapy field
- Experience leading recreational activities
- Experience working in mental health
- Basic computer skills
- Bilingual
- Veteran or veteran spouse
