The job of the Derrickman is to safely and efficiently perform all manual labor tasks on the workover rig floor.  The Derrickman works under the supervision of the Service Rig Operator but reports directly to the Rig Supervisor.  The Derrickman's responsibilities include:

  • Daily operation of the workover rig and support equipment
  • Assist in the mobilization and rigging up and down of the workover rig
  • Operating of the tongs and slips to connect and dis-connect drill pipe, tubulars, casing and drill bits or tools
  • Performing all maintenance of the equipment and physical space of the drill floor
  • Rig up and down procedures, nipple up and down and care of the B.O.P. system
  • Performing housekeeping activities on the workover floor including washing, chipping and painting
  • Participate in JSA and tail gate meetings as scheduled
  • Assist in preparing tools necessary for job
  • Washing of trucks and equipment as needed
  • Assist in the day-to-day lubrication and minor adjustments of equipment
  • Assist in the daily inspection and maintenance of equipment
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-3 years' experience work on a well service rig
  • Must have a valid state issued driver's license, CDL, or the ability to obtain one
  • Ability to perform manual labor required to operate rig equipment
  • Ability to comply with DOT Regulations and Health & Safety requirements
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
