Overview
Position Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Packaging Supervisor or Team Leads, Line Lead is responsible for ensuring line safety, product quality, and performance. This role oversees packaging operators assigned to the line and performs operational tasks as needed. The Line Lead is also responsible for driving process improvements and effectively directing resources to meet production goals.
Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Coordination
  • Lead shift line meetings to review safety, quality, production reliability, and training updates.
  • Direct line operators to maximize efficiency and minimize non-value-added activities.
  • Provide leadership and make sound decisions during quality or safety incidents; immediately inform supervision as needed.
  • Train, mentor, and cross-train team members to enhance operational flexibility.
  • Partner with supervisors, maintenance, and support staff to resolve production and downtime issues.

Operations & Equipment
  • Operate all packaging line equipment, including labelers, printers, cappers, bottle hoppers, and bundlers.
  • Perform line setups, first-piece inspections, and proper line clearance before each run.
  • Verify components, finished goods counts, and labeling accuracy.
  • Safely and efficiently assist in all aspects of bottle packaging operations.
  • Perform and verify rework as required.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Communicate mechanical issues promptly to Maintenance Technicians and Supervisors, following escalation rules.
  • Support maintenance and production teams in coordinating downtime and resolving technical problems.
  • Ensure equipment and tools are cleaned and maintained after each run.

Documentation & Compliance
  • Complete all GMP documentation (first-piece inspections, cleaning logs, equipment logs, and line clearance/changeover forms) accurately and promptly.
  • Adhere to all GMP, FDA, and Company policies, procedures, SOPs, and Safety regulations, including gowning and documentation requirements.
  • Identify and report any quality or safety issues to the appropriate departments.
  • Ensure compliance with all labeling, lot number, and expiration date requirements

Housekeeping & Safety
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe working environment.
  • Monitor PPE compliance and ensure proper housekeeping throughout the shift.
  • Ensure the line is properly cleaned and organized for smooth shift handoffs.
  • Report any safety concerns, accidents, or injuries immediately to supervision.

Continuous Improvement & Other Duties
  • Work efficiently to drive process reliability, reduce downtime, and improve productivity.
  • Support other departments and assist with special projects or additional duties as assigned.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and uphold a culture of quality and safety.

General Responsibilities
  • Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, of others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.

Qualifications
The Candidate
Education, Experience, and Licenses
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of operator experience, or prior experience in a regulated environment (cGMP or FDA) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven leadership skills include the ability to coach, assess, evaluate, develop, motivate, and empower others
  • Adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced is required
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to operate an electric/manual pallet jack/stacker
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong work ethic, professionalism, and accountability for line production performance.
  • Ability to read and comprehend SOPs, batch records, and training documents.
  • Basic computer proficiency and understanding of basic mathematics.
  • Positive attitude, strong willingness to learn, and commitment to developing new skills
