Assistant Defensible Space Inspector information

What is an assistant defensible space inspector?

Assistant Defensible Space Inspectors are professionals who support the evaluation of properties to ensure compliance with defensible space regulations, which are designed to reduce wildfire risk. They typically work under the supervision of lead inspectors and assist in inspecting homes and properties, educating property owners about defensible space requirements, and documenting findings. Their work helps promote safer communities by ensuring that vegetation and other potential fire hazards are managed appropriately around structures. This role is often part of fire prevention and community safety programs, especially in areas prone to wildfires.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an assistant defensible space inspector?

Familiarity with inspection tools, GPS mapping devices, and reporting software is often required for accurate assessment and documentation. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and customer service skills help inspectors educate property owners and collaborate with fire prevention teams.
