Job description

Deputy Superintendent of School Finances
General Summary
This position serves under the direction of the superintendent of schools.
The ideal candidate would be willing to expand upon current expertise within the Catholic School Office with a background in accounting, finance, business, development, or a related field. A traditional school/educational background is neither required nor preferred. This Deputy Superintendent position will focus primarily on growth, operations, and finances, areas in which an educational background is not essential.
The primary responsibilities of this position involve both oversight of financial systems for our schools as well as advising schools on marketing/advancement. This position provides assistance with upholding and advancing the CSO and individual schools’ Catholic mission, core values, instructional program, pupil services and school/community relations. This position will be an integral part of a growing Catholic School Office, working directly with both diocesan personnel and individual school leadership teams.
Candidate must be a disciple of Jesus Christ committed to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Duties and Responsibilities
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree preferred, Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years financial, accounting, and/or educational experience
  • Familiarity with school marketing/advancement strategies
  • Ability to analyze schools’ financial data and advise short and long term planning
  • Knowledge of data processing software (i.e. Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Skill in explaining financial reports, budgeting, etc. to administrators
  • Ability to communicate, both in writing and orally, technical information in a way that is understandable to people without technical, financial, or educational training
  • The ability to work as a member of a highly functioning team and be able to be a self-starter on individual tasks
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Work with school leaders in coordination with the Catholic School Office to enhance marketing and advancement efforts and increase enrollment across the Diocese
  • Assist members of the Catholic School Office in supporting and advising schools regarding improved budget management
  • Analyze educational and financial data to inform short- and long-term strategic planning at the school and Diocesan level
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Lead school leadership teams through a diocesan transition to a standard chart of accounts and quarterly reporting of school financial data
  • Assist with implementing integrated databases and business management systems to improve Diocesan-wide coordination and collaboration
  • Assist in implementation and analysis of school-specific data dashboard with performance indicator visualizations, allowing for detailed drill-downs and multi-faceted exploration
  • Analyze school and geographic enrollment trends, develop marketing strategies, and assist with school enrollment efforts
  • Work with school staff, as needed, in one-on-one and group training sessions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent
