JOB OVERVIEW:

THETEAM Corporate is looking for a dynamic and passionate Project Manager to join the Global Insights and Innovation team with a focus on Data Strategy. The Data Strategy group is responsible for the data modernization of all data capabilities across the THETEAM's portfolio. We lead THETEAM's efforts in building a solid data foundation and optimizing all business processes that require data inputs.

The Data Strategy Project Manager will drive data-focused projects from planning through delivery, with the business acumen to shape how data initiatives align with organizational goals and the governance judgment to keep those initiatives compliant and well-managed. This role will work with the Data and Technology Advisory Group (DTAG) to assist in selecting which platforms and projects are approved, managing timelines, budgets, stakeholders, and risk while requiring strong command of data strategy and data governance principles to guide the "what" and "why" behind the work, not just the "when".

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead data-related projects end-to-end: scoping, planning, execution, and delivery
  • Build and own project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation across workstreams
  • Establish and refine project operating mechanisms -- status cadences, intake processes, and launch readiness criteria
  • Remove blockers and make decisions at the pace the project needs to maintain momentum
  • Hold workstreams accountable to delivery timelines while protecting space for necessary discovery
  • Drive go/no-go decisions for major project milestones and data platform changes

Data Strategy & Prioritization

  • Help shape the organization's data roadmap, prioritizing initiatives based on business value and impact
  • Translate business objectives into data project priorities, working with leadership to align investments with strategic goals
  • Conduct landscape and options analysis to inform build-vs-buy and tooling decisions from a business-outcomes perspective
  • Own the narrative -- communicate project strategy, progress, and outcomes to leadership through status updates and planning documents

Stakeholder Management & Organizational Influence

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between data teams, compliance, engineering, and business stakeholders
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with cross-functional partners; represent project priorities in stakeholder forums
  • Manage up effectively -- proactively surface risks, trade-offs, and resource constraints to leadership with recommended paths forward
  • Drive alignment across competing organizational needs through influence, data, and clear communication

Data Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure projects adhere to data governance policies, including data quality, access control, retention, and privacy standards
  • Partner with data teams and compliance to align project deliverables with governance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, or internal data policies)
  • Guide decisions on data ownership, stewardship, and classification across project workstreams
  • Ensure the project maintains compliance with organizational data standards and partners effectively with legal and security teams as needed

Risk Management & Reporting

  • Proactively identify risks and dependencies, and drive mitigation plans before they threaten delivery
  • Track and report on project and data governance metrics adoption, data quality issues, policy exceptions as part of regular reporting
  • Manage scope and change requests, balancing stakeholder needs against delivery constraints

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of experience managing projects, ideally technical or data-focused
  • Experience contributing to or shaping data strategy roadmapping, prioritization, aligning data work with business goals
  • Solid working knowledge of data governance principles (data quality, stewardship, privacy, compliance, access control)
  • Proven track record delivering complex projects on time and within budget
  • Experience working within or alongside compliance/regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, CCPA)
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical, business, and compliance audiences, including experience influencing senior leadership
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Monday.com, or similar)

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with data platforms or tooling landscapes (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, AWS, Dbeaver) sufficient to inform strategic decisions
  • Experience with BI/reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience with AI tools (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Copilot)
  • Background in a sports or entertainment data sets and tooling
  • Curiosity for the entire THETEAM business and how data and products can impact it
  • A 'do-er' who is excited by new and undefined challenges/problems that require creative solutions - and can create the plan and structure to get it done
  • Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills particularly required for PowerPoint and Excel.
