Job description

CompanyFederal Reserve Bank of New YorkCompany
Federal Reserve Bank of New York
When you work at the New York Fed, you have the opportunity to make an impact in our communities and across the nation. Our mission-driven, curious, and dedicated colleagues apply their diverse perspectives and unique talents to support the strength of the U.S. economy and stability of the global financial system. At the Bank, we work full-time onsite with our teams. We believe being physically together allows us to draw on our collective strengths, while recognizing that the ability to work flexibly from time to time remains important to achieving our mission.

Our Unique Work:

The Data & Statistics Function strengthens the Federal Reserve System's ability to support supervision, monetary policy, and financial stability by modernizing how financial data is collected, governed, and transformed into insight. Our new operating model focuses on standardization, data quality, horizontal analysis, modernization, and expanded analytical capability across all data collections and sites. You'll join the Data Collection & Reporting Department's Treasury team, responsible for collecting and analyzing Treasury International Capital (TIC) data from U.S. financial institutions. This data provides critical visibility into cross-border capital flows and informs economic policy decisions. Your work will directly involve partnering with major financial institutions to ensure data integrity, conducting deep-dive analysis, and building analytical products that serve stakeholders across the Federal Reserve System.

Your role as Regulatory Data Analyst:

  • Support data quality excellence: conduct analysis of non-complex and moderately complex financial datasets and utilize visualizations to identify anomalies and trends. Assist in developing targeted inquiries that resolve data integrity issues in data series and institutional submissions.

  • Manage data collection operations: Ensure timely receipt of all data submissions, monitor collection schedules, and resolve technical submission issues with reporting institutions. Maintain operational controls to support consistent, reliable data flows.

  • Partner with financial institutions: Engage in ongoing dialogue with financial institutions to enhance data quality and resolve reporting issues. Provide guidance on technical reporting requirements and submission processes.

  • Deliver actionable insights: Analyze data sources and institutional relationships of varying sizes and complexity to support analyses that inform policy decisions and operational improvements.

  • Champion innovation: Participate in automation initiatives and emerging technology solutions that modernize our technology platform, increase operational efficiency, and scale our analytical capabilities.

  • Research and resolve reporting issues: Investigate reporting inquiries and technical issues, proposing sound conclusions based on regulatory guidance. Respond to stakeholder requests on data collection operations and institutional reporting practices.

  • Participate in cross-functional workgroups: Contribute to Function and System workgroups, sharing insights and supporting initiatives that advance data collection and analysis capabilities.

The Unique Skill Sets We're Looking For:

  • Understanding or interest in financial markets and products, regulatory reporting, or analytical work involving large and complex datasets.

  • Understanding of U.S. and global capital and money market's structure and products (e.g., Treasuries, Equities, Private Equity, Repo, Agency MBS, etc.);

  • Solutions oriented with an eagerness to learn and grow;

  • Ability to provide efficient and accurate verbal and written analysis;

  • Candidate must possess a proficient skill set including the MS Office suite such as: Excel, Word, Power Point;

  • Familiarity with or interest in Python, SQL, R, or similar programming languages; curiosity about analytical innovation and eagerness to learn and apply emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools.
