Job description

Dairy West is seeking a motivated and relationship-driven Farmer Relations Manager to serve as a trusted liaison between Dairy West and dairy producers throughout Idaho, with a primary focus on the Magic Valley.
This field-based position builds relationships with dairy farmers, connects producers with valuable resources and programs, and communicates the impact of dairy checkoff investments. The Farmer Relations Manager will regularly visit dairy operations, listen to producer needs, support education and training opportunities, and help identify and share positive stories from Idaho's dairy community.
The ideal candidate is passionate about agriculture, enjoys working directly with producers, and can translate industry information into practical, meaningful support for on-farm solutions. This position will office from our Twin Falls location and requires residency within Idaho's Magic Valley.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with dairy producers, allied industry partners, agricultural organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Serve as a primary Dairy West contact for producers, providing information, resources, materials, and ongoing support.
  • Regularly visit dairy farms to understand producer needs, share Dairy West initiatives, and identify opportunities for engagement.
  • Clearly communicate the purpose, value, programs, and impact of dairy checkoff.
  • Promote and support producer education, workforce development, leadership training, and on-farm employee training programs.
  • Identify and share producer success stories related to animal care, sustainability, milk quality, innovation, and community involvement.
  • Engage producers in media training, crisis communication, social media, speaking opportunities, and industry events.
  • Represent Dairy West at relevant agricultural, promotional, and educational events.
  • Collaborate with Dairy West teams and industry partners to advance programs that benefit dairy producers and strengthen consumer confidence in dairy.
  • Maintain accurate producer and allied industry information in Salesforce.
  • Monitor program outcomes, assist with budget management, and ensure responsible stewardship of farmer investments.
  • Stay informed about dairy industry trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Manage agreements and contracts related to farmer and allied industry programs.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates with at least 10 years of relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Experience in agriculture, dairy, producer relations, account management, education, training, consulting, or a related field.
  • Strong relationship-building, listening, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort speaking with individuals and groups in farm, community, and industry settings.
  • Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, and maintain consistent follow-through.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and customer relationship management systems such as Salesforce.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under Dairy West's automobile insurance requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout Idaho and occasionally out of state.
  • Residence in, or willingness to relocate to, Idaho's Magic Valley.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with dairy producers.
  • Knowledge of Idaho agriculture and the dairy industry.
  • Familiarity with local, regional, or national dairy checkoff organizations.
  • Experience supporting producer education, workforce training, milk quality, sustainability, or other on-farm initiatives.
  • Spanish-language proficiency.
