Job description

Experienced Butcher / Meat cutter


Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Butcher to join our team. This position requires a skilled professional with knowledge of meat cutting, trimming, grinding, preparation, packaging, and proper storage procedures. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, maintain high quality standards, and ensure full compliance with all food safety and health regulations.

This is an in-store position. We do not offer delivery services, and this is not a split-shift position.

Responsibilities

  • Cut, trim, debone, grind, and prepare beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and other meat products.
  • Prepare retail cuts according to customer and store requirements.
  • Maintain proper meat storage temperatures and follow all health department and food safety regulations.
  • Ensure product freshness, quality, and proper rotation.
  • Package, label, weigh, and price meat products accurately.
  • Monitor inventory and notify management when products need to be reordered.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area at all times.
  • Safely operate meat saws, grinders, slicers, and other butcher equipment.
  • Assist customers with meat selection and provide product recommendations when needed.
  • Follow all company policies and food handling procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of butcher experience preferred.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of meat cuts and preparation techniques.
  • Ability to break down and process large portions of meat.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and temperature control requirements.
  • Experience working in a grocery store, meat market, supermarket, or butcher shop.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.

Pay: Based on experience.
