The Basics:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a heavy industrial setting, such as steel mill, paper mill, manufacturing, mining, or like environment and/or relevant certifications/education
  • Advanced knowledge of tools and equipment used for industrial purposes, to include cranes, fork trucks, heavy machinery, and hand and power tools required
  • Basic math and reading comprehension skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word)
  • Qualified (or ability to qualify in) all lift equipment including pendant/remote cranes and forklifts
  • Knowledge of measurement devices
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to be a self-starter, follow directions, and work in a team environment

The Extras

  • Previous steel industry experience (such as, steel mill/aluminum mill/foundry, etc.) is preferred
  • Knowledge of continuous process lines
  • Knowledge of HMI (Human Machine Interface) System
  • Basic knowledge of chemicals and handling
  • Certification in operation of heavy machinery such as fork truck, crane, etc. desired

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Operate and monitor steel equipment
  • Coordinate and work with all mill personnel in maintaining mill production
  • Perform routine maintenance; assist maintenance personnel
  • Monitor and notify supervision and maintenance personnel of any abnormal job and equipment conditions
  • Operate and maintain mobile equipment to include pendant remote cranes, overhead cranes, & fork trucks
    • Training will be provided
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Industrial setting in the Hot Strip Mill, Cold Rolling Mill, or Hot Dip Galvanizing Lines
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Shift Work – 12 hour rotating shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed
