The Monadnock Food Co-op is looking for a talented Meat Cutter to join our team and help us build a healthy, sustainable food system right here in Keene, NH! We're more than just a grocery store; we're a community hub where good food and friendly customer service come together in a fast-paced, cooperative environment. Provide exceptional customer service to shoppers by providing a well- stocked, attractive department; this includes cutting, packaging and merchandising product. Speak to local and organic meat and seafood options. Take pride in your work and work area. Work effectively and efficiently within a team environment. Must have good work ethic, superior customer service skills and ability to work independently with speed and accuracy. Serve Safe certified is preferred.  

The purpose of this position is to give exceptional customer service to shoppers by providing a well- stocked, attractive department; this includes cutting, packaging and merchandising products. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements:


  • Stock, rotate and maintain the cases within the department, sustaining a full and fresh appearance
  • Assist manager in creating attractive displays with uniform signage
  • Cut and grind meats as directed by the department managers or leads
  • Adhere to health and safety standards and practices for department meat cutting and handling
  • Follow Co-op recipes to make marinades and sausage
  • Prepare and package products with appropriate labels while giving products a professional and appealing appearance
  • Assist training co-workers in department  knowledge and operations
  • Place orders with vendors as directed by managers or leads
  • Plan attractive displays with uniform signage; ensure displays are fully stocked, rotated, and fronted to ensure freshness and abundance
  • Ensure accurate, up-to-date price, ingredient, and date labeling of items
  • Assist in planning and implementing seasonal programs

 Department Maintenance

  • Ensure food prep, work area, utensils, equipment and display areas are maintained in sanitary, orderly condition meeting or exceeding health department standards
  • Follow USDA and NH State Law regarding the use, labeling, and handling of allergens
  • Follow standard Sanitation Operating Procedures schedule including: deep cleaning schedules, good health department scores, pest awareness and control, and equipment maintenance
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling procedures as per health department and organic standards
  • Participate in inventory counts as directed by management
  • Follow and update opening and closing checklists
  • Monitor temperatures in cooler, freezer and cases

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity and knowledge of current trends in the natural foods industry
