How You Can Make an Impact
As a Finishing Operator in Folding-Gluing, you will be responsible for setting up, and running the folder/gluer machines to produce cartons that meet customer specifications. They are responsible for maintaining the equipment, tracking the production schedule, giving special instructions to the catchers, and entering job information into the Radius computer program. Operators are also responsible for communicating and correcting quality issues with plant leadership.
A Day in the Life:
  • Prepare Make-Ready of the feeder unit.
  • Run initial quantities after setting up the folder/gluer machine to demonstrate production capability.
  • Operate the folder/gluer machine that folds and glues various types of folding cartons and produce quality products.
  • Read and respond to scheduling software to define machine set-up.
  • Understand and practice correct equipment operation as applied.
  • Assist with all associated set-up tasks as directed by the Folder Operator.
  • Wide range of duties that include locating stock, loads, loading and stacking according to size, shape, quantity to support machine efficiency.
  • Responsible for meeting monthly and quarterly efficiency goals by exceeding established production and quality standards.
  • Perform quality checks as required and report deficiencies to plant leadership when discovered.
  • Maintain machine work records, and update on a timely basis.
  • Monitor equipment status and brief plant leadership as needed.
  • Work around equipment and use tools to set up the folder/gluer machine.
  • Report any missing, broken, bent, or worn parts to supervisor or maintenance personnel.
  • Keep the area clean and assist in set-up of the equipment.

This is a full-time, on-site position on second shift (3:00PM-11:00PM Eastern Time Monday-Friday). However, changes in manufacturing needs and schedules may necessitate a change to the original agreed upon hours, or the working of additional, overtime hours. Every effort will be made to give advance notice of any permanent changes.
Capabilities & Experience:
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • At least 1 year of paperboard folding carton industry or similar print/packaging experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience on a folder-gluer machine.
  • Communication Skills - Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Computer Skills - Basic computer skills are required to read work instructions, record job data, follow work schedule, and communicate via email
  • Technical Capacity. Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Flexible, adaptable and teamwork oriented.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Perform a variety of tasks throughout the day in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to stand and move about the work station throughout the day.
  • Ability to respond to continually changing priorities and coordinate multiple projects.
