Are you an experienced maintenance professional with strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills? Do you enjoy solving complex equipment issues and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? SMP Automotive Systems Alabama is seeking skilled Multi-Craft Maintenance Technicians to join our Maintenance Team.

As a Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving a wide variety of production equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations.

What You'll Do
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated production equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
  • Diagnose PLC-controlled equipment and assist with programming modifications when needed.
  • Install, maintain, and repair motors, conveyors, robots, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, and other industrial equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, machining, and equipment modifications as required.
  • Support production by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime.
  • Assist with equipment installations, relocations, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring equipment failures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S principles.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical degree or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting experience, including 24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, motors, drives, sensors, relays, and control circuits.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems (Allen-Bradley preferred).
  • Experience with industrial robotics is a plus.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and off-shifts as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Work around moving machinery, electrical equipment, and industrial manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting devices.
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
