Description
Reports To: Controller
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for reviewing and processing various types of financial transactions, preparing numerous reports, promptly entering invoices and issuing payments, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate vendor records. This position also provides financial, administrative, and clerical support to the Controller. The individual will be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to multi-task and ensure accuracy with transactions while working independently. The position must maintain utmost confidentiality and professionalism in dealing with stockholders, management, team members, and vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Efficiently and accurately enter invoices as they are received
  2. Prepare expense checks and transmit payments as needed
  3. Ensure accuracy of payments posted to the general ledger
  4. Set-up fixed assets and balance to GL monthly
  5. Set-up prepaids and accruals and balance to GL monthly
  6. Update the Financial Report daily
  7. Track Correspondent Bank balances and transfer funds as needed
  8. Post Correspondent Bank service charges, wires transfers, security payments, and dividends to GL
  9. Prepare monthly Board and Marketing reports
  10. Review purchasing card expenses, create expense file and post to GL monthly
  11. Balance and expense Bank & Business purchases each month
  12. Assist with set-up and maintenance of investment securities
  13. Monitor public funds balances and assist with pledging and releasing securities
  14. Assist with stock purchases, sales and quarterly stockholder distributions
  15. Report and pay Excise Use tax, Franchise taxes, and Personal & Real Estate taxes
  16. Maintain vehicle assessments
  17. Send out yearly fixed asset inventory verification to branches
  18. Review and pay yearly Business License
  19. Help with insurance claims and renewals
  20. Prepare and report yearly personal property tax rendition
  21. Review and prepare AP 1099 file at year end
  22. Back-up Controller when absent
  23. Perform any other duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in a business field (e.g. accounting, business admin, finance) preferred
  • Two (2) years accounts payable or general accounting experience required
