Job description

Assistant Sous Chef – Tipsy Moose

Tipsy Moose is an upscale sports bar focused on fresh, made-in-house food and is continuing to move toward a more premium food and dining experience. We want to combine the energy and atmosphere of a great sports bar with food quality that goes well beyond traditional pub fare.

We are looking for a reliable, motivated Assistant Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys cooking, takes pride in quality and consistency, and wants to be part of a kitchen that is continuing to improve its menu, products, and execution.

Working closely with the Chef and Sous Chef, you will help manage daily food preparation and service while ensuring our standards for food quality, cleanliness, organization, and food safety are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily food preparation and cooking
  • Help oversee kitchen operations during service
  • Maintain consistent food quality, portioning, and presentation
  • Support our continued move toward higher-quality, premium ingredients and menu offerings
  • Support and guide kitchen staff during busy periods
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and food safety procedures
  • Assist with prep planning, inventory, ordering, and minimizing food waste
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen
  • Help train and develop kitchen team members
  • Communicate effectively with both kitchen and front-of-house staff
  • Help identify opportunities to improve food quality, preparation and kitchen efficiency
  • Step into a leadership role when the Chef or Sous Chef is unavailable

What We're Looking For

  • Previous kitchen leadership experience
  • Strong cooking and food preparation skills
  • A genuine interest in fresh, made-in-house food
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work independently
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Positive attitude and strong communication skills
  • Ability to lead by example and work as part of a team
  • Good understanding of food safety and sanitation
  • An interest in helping develop and improve food quality and kitchen standards
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends as required

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced cook or junior kitchen leader who wants to take the next step. Tipsy Moose is continuing to develop its food program, with an increased focus on fresh preparation, premium products, consistency, and creating a food experience that gives guests another reason to come back beyond the game.
