Job description

Position Overview
Green Bay Packaging is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the Mill Controller in managing all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and internal control functions for the paper mill. This position partners with mill leadership to provide financial analysis, ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards, and support operational and strategic decision-making. The Assistant Controller plays a key role in improving financial performance, maintaining accurate financial records, and safeguarding company assets.
Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing all Mill Controller responsibilities and being able to perform back-up role for critical tasks and responsibilities
  • Provide support and oversight for major projects accounting, tracking, and reporting
  • Provide financial and business leadership to the operation to support cost effective decision and strategy
  • Support and lead timely preparation and communication of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting and analysis.
  • Support mill continuous improvement process and area business reviews.
  • Perform adhoc analysis as requested
  • Assist with preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range strategic plans.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies including leading/supporting internal and external audits
  • Support capital expenditure justification/approval, planning, and tracking.
  • Assist in supervising and developing accounting team members

Qualification
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
  • Manufacturing accounting experience required. Preferably in plant Controller or Assistant Controller role.
  • Paper, pulp, packaging, or related heavy manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both financial and operational teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Superior oral and written communication skills with the ability to efficiently deliver and reinforce consistent messages at all levels within, and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to interpret, organize, and report data and information accurately.
