Job Opportunity
An international developer of professional information products is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for its hybrid Worcester, Massachusetts team. This role will help define the analytical foundations of AI tools that assist users with research, interpretation, and document-driven decision making.
The position calls for a senior practitioner who can connect data, algorithms, and product behavior. You will develop data science approaches for retrieval-grounded generation, intelligent agents, legal document analysis, and scalable language-model applications while establishing evidence that these systems perform consistently in demanding enterprise settings.
Required Expertise
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in data science, machine learning, computational linguistics, or applied AI
Demonstrated skill applying LLMs and NLP to complex text-based problems
Experience developing retrieval, embedding, and ranking components for RAG applications
Experience with agentic architectures that plan, retrieve information, and complete structured tasks
Understanding of large-scale AI platforms and distributed system considerations
Ability to create rigorous offline and online evaluation plans for AI-enabled products
Preferred Profile
Familiarity with legal, policy, regulatory, or business-information datasets
Relevant bachelor's degree required; master's-level education is preferred
History of leading technically complex data science work in an enterprise product environment
What You Will Accomplish
Responsibilities
Set the analytical direction for AI features from initial discovery through performance review
Develop data and retrieval strategies that help generative models remain grounded in trusted materials
Apply NLP techniques to classification, synthesis, summarization, and interpretation of long-form documents
Build evaluation suites for RAG and agentic systems, including failure analysis and quality monitoring
Work with engineers and architects to translate validated methods into scalable product capabilities

6-month contract-to-hire arrangement
