Job description

Electronic CAD Designer
6 to 12 month contract assignment 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electronic CAD Designer to design moderately to highly complex printed wiring board (PWB) layouts. The successful candidate will work closely with electrical, packaging, manufacturing, and schematic engineers to develop new and modified high-density PWB designs across a range of technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop moderately to highly complex PWB layouts based on schematics, engineering requirements, and team input.
  • Assist electrical and packaging engineers with PWB design and layout.
  • Apply advanced layout techniques, including differential pairs, length matching, impedance control, blind and buried vias, and high-density/fine-pitch component breakout.
  • Assist with constraint definition, editing, and implementation.
  • Interpret and apply design requirements, processes, and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with PWB manufacturing engineers to establish fabrication criteria.
  • Identify design issues and communicate them to the appropriate project team members.
  • Provide input for associated design documentation.
  • Apply industry-standard PWB design practices and standards, including IPC-7351, JEDEC-JP95, and MIL-STD-1835.
  • Manage assigned layout projects and efficiently drive tasks through completion.
  • Communicate project status, technical issues, and progress to management and project teams.
  • Work independently with moderate to minimal oversight while collaborating effectively with senior technical personnel.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or equivalent combination of education, knowledge, and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in PWB design or technical drafting.
  • Strong proficiency with relevant CAD and PWB design tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and accurately capture complex design details in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with bare-die technologies, including wire bonding, flip-chip, and interposer design.
  • Formal education or experience in electronics or electrical circuit theory.
  • IPC certification.
  • Knowledge of PWB assembly, fabrication, hardware assembly, or hardware testing.
  • Active or recent security clearance (within the past year).
Design Tools
  • Siemens (Mentor) Xpedition Enterprise VX2.12/2.14
  • AutoCAD
  • CAM350
  • SolidWorks
