Job description

Title: Legal Assistant 
Location: 3900 Commonwealth Blvd., Tallahassee, Florida 32399
Working Model: Onsite
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm

Pay Rate Range: $20-$25/hr on W2
 
Position Summary:  
  • Client is looking for a paralegal/legal secretary with 3-5 yrs experience who is familiar with the systems and working with 3-4 attorneys. 
  • Must have experience filing documents with the court, contacting judge assistance, manage attorney case files, attorney calendars and knowledge of general court systems.
  • Qualified candidates will be performing basic word processing, using templates to draft correspondence and creating documents.
  • Dress Code:  Appropriate, Semi-Professional Dress Attire
 
Contractor Duties: 
  • The legal assistant acts as the legal secretary for assigned attorneys
  • Formatting, finalizing, typing, and filing documents. 
  • Preparing letters and legal documents from drafts.
  • Filing pleadings and motions with appropriate tribunals.
  • Serving or arranging service of legal documents, and maintaining attorney case files. 
  • Prepares subpoenas, discovery requests, schedules hearings, trials, depositions, and arranges facilities as directed. 
  • Retaining and scheduling court reporters and obtaining transcripts.
  • Performing general secretarial duties such as phone calls and travel arrangements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Closing case files, and supporting office management as needed.
