Job description

Trueline's client, a well-established civil litigation law firm serving clients across Massachusetts and the surrounding region, is seeking a Civil Litigation Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join their team in Danvers, MA. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who can work independently, stay ahead of deadlines, and provide strong litigation support to busy attorneys handling active matters in state and federal court.
What You'll Do as the Civil Litigation Legal Assistant / Paralegal:
  • Provide day-to-day legal assistant and paralegal support to one or two attorneys
  • Prepare, revise, and file court documents in state and federal court
  • Draft pleadings, discovery materials, correspondence, and routine motions
  • Track deadlines, maintain calendars, and help move cases forward efficiently
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files
  • Conduct legal research and gather supporting case materials
  • Coordinate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and outside vendors as needed
  • Support attorneys with case preparation and overall litigation workflow

Must-Haves as the Civil Litigation Legal Assistant / Paralegal:
  • 3-5 years of experience in a litigation support, legal assistant, or paralegal role
  • Strong civil litigation background
  • Experience with court filing procedures, including e-filing
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Strong drafting, proofreading, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Professional communication skills and sound judgment

Nice-to-Haves as the Civil Litigation Legal Assistant / Paralegal:
  • Experience supporting insurance defense or other defense-side litigation practices
  • Familiarity with both Massachusetts state courts and federal court procedures
  • Experience supporting more than one attorney at a time
  • Paralegal certificate or comparable hands-on litigation experience
  • Prior experience in a hybrid legal support environment
